This is a simple schematic of ReadySoft's 1541 cable for the A2000/A500 that is used with the "The 64 Emulator". This cable is radically different from the A1000 cable. Wouldn't you know it? I have an A1000 but have an A500/A2000 cable. After a friend with an identical problem failed to create a 1000 cable using his 500/2000 cable as a guide, I decided to make one. After looking over the slight differences in the 500/2000 port to that of the 1000, it was obvious that the pins being used were no different except for their gender. Funny thing is I couldn't make a working cable either. I've had more than enough electronics experience to be able to figure this out! Did I waste 5 years of my life? OK, maybe 2 years. The only conclusion I can come to is that the A1000 cable is VERY different from the A2000/A500 cable. So both of us were left with A500/A2000-1541 cables that were too hacked to honestly be sent back to ReadySoft. And we're stuck without 1541 "connectivity" (forgive my BlueSpeak). I'm offering this in the hopes that somebody will find it educational, and more importantly, that some A500/A2000 owner stuck with an A1000 cable will be kind enough to send me the schematic for the A1000-1541 cable. You don't want to wire it wrong. As with all hobby projects, I must warn you that this will likely void some warranty and I accept no responsibility if you fry your Amiga/1541 or neuter your cat. Do so at your own risk or get a qualified person to make this cable. Feel free to post this on any system as long as it remains intact. I hope this solves your problems. If you find it useful, and/or can help me with an A1000 conversion, you know where to reach me. -Pat
